The Australian Olympic Committee engaged Made Agency to design the 2025 edition of the Australian Olympians Magazine, its annual celebration of the Olympian community and the stories that carry on long after the Games. This year the AOC wanted something different: a magazine with more energy and personality that stepped beyond the familiar green and gold.
We answered with a bolder, more playful editorial language. A wider colour palette gives each section its own character. Expressive typography, playing with scale, weight and contrast, brings movement and a sense of fun to every spread while staying true to the AOC brand.
At the heart of the issue is “Bond”, a feature about the connections Olympians share beyond competition. Made art directed the shoots, including a portrait series of three members of Australia’s 1956 Coxed Four rowing crew, photographed by Sam Bisso. The black-and-white portraits give the story a timeless, intimate feel. Olympians Rosie Popa, Grace Brown and Selin Kuralay feature alongside them.
The issue also covers Olympians in the Community, Olympics Unleashed, the Sydney 2000 25th anniversary, the Indigenous Advisory Committee, Australian Olympians Association events and an In Memoriam tribute. The result is a vibrant, warm publication that feels as lively as the people it celebrates.
