Well, what a year that was. Although COVID-19 is far from being an after-thought or a surreal memory to bring up around the dinner table, humanity seems to have found a ray of light at the end of the tunnel. Things are slowly returning to normality we used to enjoy, albeit cautiously and 2020 has taught us all a number of important lessons; adapting to remote work, dealing with being apart from loved ones and finding ways to connect, empathy not apathy, and above all else, patience. We are all hopeful for what 2021 will bring, and strangely nostalgic about the past year.
Our partnership with the Australian Olympic Committee produced a brilliant editorial project for their annual magazine. The team at Made were tasked to conceptualise, create and execute the editorial design for the Australian Olympians Magazine to be published and distributed to all committee members, as well as past and present Olympians. The key message: showcase and highlight the undeniable and unique Australian Olympic spirit. Made sought to capture the sporting essence of this diverse country through clean, engaging and vibrant editorial design. The wonderful feedback the magazine received throughout the Australian Olympic community secured our partnership with the AOC for their 2020 edition; a project the entire studio is really excited to be involved in.
Over the last few months, the studio has been finalising and coordinating the incredible Waverley College enrolment campaign that’s scheduled to fully roll out across Sydney over the next few months. Made conceptualised, coordinated and executed a fully art-directed and unique campaign for the 2023 enrolment push, the likes of which the college has never seen before. What started out as an enquiry for a potential brand refresh project has since turned into an amazing partnership with Waverley College and Made. Keep an eye out for bold and confident bus wraps and eye-popping digital advertising assets across the entirety of Sydney and remember; Choose Waverley.
Throughout 2020 the studio has been pushing the boundaries of digital and web design, delivering websites of a higher standard and being recognised for doing so. Our digital work for Jeckra, a specialist in the childcare sector that specifically focuses on developing childcare centres and refurbishing existing centres, won an honourable mention on awwwards.com. A fine balance of micro-animations, transitions and minimal aesthetics brought Jeckra’s brief to life. More exciting digital projects are in the works for the studio, with 2021 set to be a busy year for website launches.
2020 saw Made Agency Sydney’s reach extend across the ditch in New Zealand. In September we launched the brand new identity for Evena, a modern property and land developer based in Marlborough who pride themselves on making home affordability a realistic option for all, without compromising on overall build quality. Focusing on sophistication, quality and an appreciation for minimal execution, Made created a super slick identity that positioned Evena as experts in their field. It’s always nice to hear clients sing our praises, and Evena were especially kind:

In hindsight, our studio has been in the very fortunate position throughout the noise of a global pandemic to carry on projects and remain steadfast through the uncertainty. As a studio, we’re grateful to say that we’ve never been busier than we were this past year, from unique branding projects to Sydney-wide campaigns, editorial partnerships to pushing the boundaries of our digital capabilities. 2020 has been a tough year, but we’ve made the most of it.
